Mrs. Thompson's 8th Grade Geometry Class/ Reflections Lesson

There are three types of transformations in geometry: Rotations, Translations and Reflections. A reflection is like a mirror image over a lens. If the paper was folded on the the line, the image and reflection would coincide. Our culminating project for reflections was to draw our face. I took pictures of every student's face with the digital camera, cut the photo in half and had the students draw the other half using a Mirra to see the reflection. In addition, the language arts teacher had the students write an Acrostic poem using the letters in the students name to describe characteristics about themselves. Below are examples of some of the reflections drawings. Can you tell which half is the photo image and which half was drawn by the student?
