CEP 817: Learning Technology through Design

Web Signs Unlimited in conjunction with Michigan State University Presents:
CEP 848: Issues in the Instructional Use of Sign Language

In this class, we truly learned technology through design. Unlike the 817 class from the fall, this was taught by Dr. Matt Koehler and the focus was on learning technology through designing web sites, particularly for online courses. We were each placed with one professor from MSU, whose task was to take a class that they would normally teach in the face-to-face environment and help them to design that same class for teaching online.

My group (Web Signs) worked with Dr. David Stewart, the head Deaf Education to develop an online version of CEP 848: Issues in the Instructional Use of Sign Language. David was wonderful to work with! He presented our group with clear, concise goals for creating a final product he would be happy with.

Final Paper:This was the final paper assignment in which Matt asked ten specific questions regarding what we learned in the course and how we felt about online learning versus face-to-face learning.

Chapter Seven Discussion Questions: At least once during the semester, each of us was asked to facilitate the weekly online discussion. For this particular discussion, there were two specific questions we were required to answer regarding charactersistics of the successful learner and instructor in an online classroom.
