PROJECT: SHED

(Student’s Helping Eliminate Diseases)

• On the Internet, research the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital website. www.stjude.org to find information about the organization. Find out what types of services they provide and to whom they provide these services.

• Find pictures and facts to use in your presentation. You may go to images.google.com and to www.stjude.org to find photos to use in your slide show. These are the only acceptable websites.

• You will need a minimum of 20 facts. These notes should be handwritten on the handout I will give you. Make sure that your name, grade and class period are written on the paper. This is part of the overall grade for this project. (20 points)
  
• In PowerPoint, you will create a multimedia presentation complete with music.  The idea is to produce a 3-4 minute long slide show that will inspire your audience to want to donate to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or get involved in some way. (140 points)

• In Microsoft Word, you will write a 15-30 second Public Service Announcement. You will write a rough draft on paper and the final copy (scripted) will be done in Microsoft Word. (20 points)

• Using the Digital Video Camera, you will film a 15-30 second Public Service Announcement that either prompts people to get involved with St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to donate money to the hospital. (30 points)

• Using Windows Movie Maker, you will produce a 15-30 second Public service Announcement, editing the raw film into a cohesive, succinct PSA, acceptable in quality to send to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital for their use. (50 points)

• In Microsoft Access, you will create a table of sources, as well as resources for future use. (40 points)

• In Microsoft Word, write a four-paragraph reflection paper on what you learned from this project. (60 points)

• In Microsoft Publisher, create a brochure or flyer to promote St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to promote research for finding a cure for the disease you studied. (60 points)

• In Microsoft Publisher, create a flyer about the entire project, explaining and promoting the idea of getting involved with or donating money to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. (60 points)
