Final Reflection: Technology Literacy

  1. What was your favorite part of this class? Why? What was your least favorite part of this class? Why?

My favorite part of this class was working on the power point about Habitat for Humanity. The power point was my favorite because we got to completely design and do all the work by ourselves the way we wanted it or we had the option to work with a partner if we wanted to. We were also able to choose our own topic that we were interested so that made it to where we didn’t mind doing the research for the project. When we did our slide shows we even got to choose our own music that we and Mrs. Colburn felt went along with our topic for the project so this to keep us interested in the project. My least favorite part of this class was working with the camera and having to do the public announcement about Habitat for Humanity in front of the camera. This was my least favorite because I don’t think we should have had to have been in front of the camera if we didn’t want to be. So a way to still do the announcements and not have the people who didn’t want to do it would be to have one person in each group do the announcement and the others could do the filming, editing and the other parts of the public announcement project. I also think that we should have been able to choose our groups to work in or at least have one person in the group that we picked or something on that order.

  1. What did you learn about Microsoft Power Point? What did you learn about Microsoft Publisher? What did you learn about Habitat for Humanity?

In Microsoft Power Point I learned how to add music and get it at the right speed for my slides and translations. I also learned how to add the translations to my slides. In Microsoft Publisher I learned how to insert pictures from my file to the page I am working on. I had known how to put pictures on a page but never knew how to take them from a file to put on the page I am working on at the time. What I learned about Habitat for Humanity is that Habitat for Humanity was founded by Linda and Millard Fuller who were former millionaires. I also learned that Habitat for Humanity doesn’t just give away the homes they build. The people receiving the home have to work for so many hours on the house and they do have to pay Habitat back for the house they receive.

  1. What project that you did are you most proud of? Why?

The project I liked best was the power point and that is the project I am most proud of. I am proud of the work I did on the power point because it was a way for me to teach others about Habitat for Humanity and the history of Habitat for Humanity. Plus it wasn’t just a list of facts that they had to read it was an interesting power point that they watched and even listened to music that we got to pick for our topic. I think that the translations that I used between my slides broke it up good and it wasn’t all the same translations either it was a variety of translations. The variety of translations made the power point a more interesting power point to watch then watching the same thing over and over again.

  1. Which project could you have done better job on? Why? What would you do differently to improve that project?

The project I could have done better was my public announcement project. The announcement that I did was ok but there were just little things that would have made it look better and would have made it over all better. The reason I feel I could have improved on this project was because I am not really into being in front off or on the camera and I think that really showed in my project. The thing I would have done to improve my announcement would be to make it a little longer so I seemed like I didn’t mind being in front of the camera and I would have gotten more information about Habitat for Humanity out. I also would have spoken a little slower so that too would have made it seem like I didn’t mind being in front of or on a camera.
