Final Reflection: Technology Literacy

  1. What was your favorite part of this class? Why? What was your least favorite part of the class? Why?

My favorite part of Computer Lit was making the power points because getting all the info about Habitat for Humanity and putting together with a partner and was fun! Also I really liked making the PSAs, once my group and I understood how to do it. In the Psa, I liked to do the filming of the PSAs because it felt like I was a director, directing a movie! My least favorite part of the class was making the PSAs because it was confusing putting them on the computer and trying to save them, but I did really like the filming part of the PSAs. Another thing about computer lit I didn’t really care for was using Microtype. The reason why I didn’t like using Microtype was because I’m a really slow typer, and it was hard to do some of the activities, like the one where you weren’t supposed to look at the keyboard! For the most part, I really did like Computer lit!

  1. What did you learn about Microsoft Power Point? What did you learn about Microsoft Publisher? What did you learn about Habitat for Humanity?

In Microsoft Power Point, I learned to put music to the slide shows. In power point, I also learned how to make a really good slide show, before I couldn’t really make a good slide show. Another thing I learned in Power Point is how to add affects to the slides and make them look better with the affects. In Publisher, I learned to make my own, original brochure. I also learned how to make boarders on the actual parts of the brochure. I liked learning all the new things we could do in Publisher. I learned from Habitat for Humanity that they don’t just give out new homes, the new owners have to help in the building. Also I learned that Habitat for Humanity builds homes with all the money that they raise from people who donate. Another thing I learned was how to help people in my own community, and how just time, or a little money can help save a family in my town, not have to live on the streets!

  1. What project are you most proud of? Why?

The project I am most proud of is my power point on Tsunami Response because I felt that Kate and I worked well together and we equally shared the work, and the outcome was a great, informative power point! I liked the power point a lot because I think I taught so many people about Habitat for Humanity, and ways to help. Another thing I liked about the power point was, all the information we got to collect and just from some facts we found on the internet, we could persuade many people to help out, and how they could help. I like the power point because I myself learned so much about the ways I could help and what I could do to help not only families in my neighborhood, but all over the world! Kate and I learned so much, and now I think I might want to help out Habitat for Humanity!

  1. Which project could you have done a better job on? Why? What would you do differently to improve that project?

The project I could have done better on was the brochure because I had a couple of typing errors. To make that project better I could have paid better attention to what I had written and I could have looked over it more thorough and made sure there were no errors. I also could have done better on turning in all my assignments, on time! I had a bit of trouble turning in all my assignments, and I think if I had turned them all in on time, I could have gotten a better grade in computer literacy! Another thing I could have done better on was the PSA. I could have done better because I didn’t really know how to save them, and I felt bad because I saved some of my group member’s projects in the wrong folder, or I saved them wrong!
